Beach vacations are a lot of fun, but sometimes you want to do something other than lying out on the sand, especially if you have kids. Panama City Beach, Florida is known for its beautiful beaches, but what else does this fun tourist spot have to offer?

One of the great things about staying at the Pelican Walk is that there’s a lot to do in the area. Many tourist attractions and fun activities are just a quick drive, or walk if you’re feeling adventurous, away from the resort. Below is a list of some of these things, as well as some of the company’s near the resort that offer these services.

1) Dolphin Tours

A popular thing to do when in Florida is to go on a dolphin tour. Hopping on a jet ski and playing with dolphins in their natural habitat is a great way to spend the day, and it can only be done at the beach. So what are you waiting for? 2) Parks

Why not spend a day out in nature (this is a great way to tire the kids out)? Located just down the street from the hotel is the St. Andrews State Park. This attraction offers many fun, outdoorsy activities such as biking, hiking, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking, and a playground for the kids, among other things. It’s also on the water, so if you really wanted to, you could go to the beach at the park.

3) Picnics

When you’re at the park, why not pack a lunch and have a picnic? The State Park has picnic pavilions, in addition to everything previously mentioned. It’s a great way to save some money and with Pelican Walk’s fully equipped kitchens, it’s easy to go grocery shopping and pack a great lunch or dinner that the family can enjoy.

4) Paddleboarding

Another great way to enjoy the water in Panama is to go paddle boarding. Never done it before? No problem. Classes are offered at Panama City Paddle Boards and because it’s located just down the street from the resort, there’s no excuse not to try it. They’ll have you standing up on the water in no time.

5) Kayaking

Kayaking is a popular activity among tourists, and it’s a great way to get out on the crystal clear water and enjoy the sun. It’s also a great way to incorporate some physical exercise into your day. When you’re in a kayak, you decide where you want to go. You’re your own tour guide. All you have to do is row and go.

6) Golf

Whether it’s miniature golf or a regular golf course, golfing is a hobby that many people love. So why not golf on your vacation? There are golf courses located just a short distance away from the resort. You’ll have a fun day playing a relaxing game of golf, and if you’re with family, miniature golf is always fun for the kids.

7) Amusement Parks

Kids are like the energizer bunny, in that they keep going and going and going. Parents need to tire them out, and what better way to do this than to take the kids to an amusement park. They’ll be so excited about all the rides that they’ll run to each one. 8) Shopping

There are many cute boutiques that can prepare you for a night out. There are also a number of surf shops and shops that sell fishing gear to prepare you for your time out on the water. These shops are a quick drive from the resort, or even a quick walk down the beach, and are a great place to get souvenirs to remember your trip.

9) Restaurants

After all the shopping, paddle boarding, dolphin tours, and just overall walking, why not sit down to a great dinner at one of the many popular restaurants located near Pelican Walk. Not too far from the hotel is Finns Island Style Grub, which is famous for their fish tacos. Why not try them to see why? Fish not your thing? Some of the other options are listed below.

10) Night Life/Bars

If you’re looking for a night out, there are a number of bars in the area for whatever mood you’re in. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to relax, or a crazy night out (Splash Bar offers drag shows), there is a bar waiting for you. So what are you waiting for? Hire a babysitter and unwind from the day’s activities by grabbing a drink. Sometimes the grown-ups need to play a bit as well.
